Luba is a PhD candidate in Synthetic Biology / Biocatalysis at UCL, in the Biochemical Engineering Department (BBSRC LIDo DTP). Her research focuses on characterisation of unknown natural enzyme fusions and engineering synthetic fusions from known enzymes to enable efficient conversion of simple and complex alcohol and acid compounds to amines. Prior to her PhD, she completed an undergraduate degree (BSc) in Chemical and Molecular Biology at Birkbeck, University of London, where she founded the first Birkbeck iGEM Team. iGEM or International Genetically Engineered Machine competition is the world’s leading synthetic biology competition for students and entrepreneurs. Luba joined Innovation Forum UCL branch in May 2018 as a management associate.
