These past two months, our startups have strived for excellence by refining their ideas, business plans and practicing their pitches, with the precious help from our selected industry mentors. A money prize of GBP 500 and a direct access to the TOP20 Global Final in the 2017 Leaders Conference will be available for the winner of the competition!
Letizia is the Director for Portfolio Management and Business Operations, at the Johnson & Johnson Innovation Center in London. Her responsibilities include governance and metrics for the portfolio, internal and external stakeholders engagement, as well as designing and sustaining modus operandi to enable the J&J innovation and collaboration strategy in close partnership with all the IC leadership functions. Prior joining the London IC team, Letizia was Life Cycle Management Director for the Janssen EMEA commercial strategy organization responsible for a portfolio of 60 plus products, in excess of $1B. Letizia brings a broad and extensive background across quality, CMC disciplines, supply chain launch management, alliance management and business development: she has track record of creating effective governances and collaborative environments, integrating silos and enabling teams and individuals to excel. Letizia received her MSc in Theoretical Chemistry from University of Perugia, Italy.
Patrick is Performance and Projects Manager at MedCity where he runs the Angels in MedCity programme; bringing together life sciences SMEs with angel investors. He also tracks the performance of MedCity and life sciences across the region and leads on MedCityMap. Patrick holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from King’s College London where he researched nutrient sensing mechanisms and its links to metabolic disease.
Thomas advises clients in the high tech field, in particular, in the electronics sector on internet related subject matter and computer-implemented inventions. Thomas is moreover active in protecting inventions in the Cleantech and medical device field. He has worked on patent applications relating to non-volatile semiconductor storage devices, data processing and exchange, mobile telecommunications, smart grid related inventions, waste reduction and medical imaging, to name a few. Thomas also has experience in contentious related matters, including European oppositions and litigation. Thomas graduated with a Diploma in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Applied Science in Ulm (Germany) and went on to obtain his PhD from the Institute of Cancer Research, where he investigated the interaction between radio frequency electromagnetic fields and conducting tissue, with particular emphasis on its application to the design of phased array resonators.
Peter is an investor with > £1bn equity deployed in over 100 successful global infra investments covering all sectors. He is currently a Director at Scottish Equity Partners (£1.1bn FUM) where he is leading the new investment activities for the £135m Environmental Capital Fund (ECF). ECF is investing into low-carbon focussed projects and companies across all of the energy related sectors. Peter is a former co-founder and Director of EIDC which specialised in the development and investment into WtE and renewables projects. Prior to EIDC, Peter was a Director and head of team at Land Securities Trillium ("LST") responsible for secondary and waste/WtE investments. Peter is also a former Partner of Secondary Market Infrastructure Fund ("SMIF") which was exited to LST for £927m at a significant multiple and with a capital value of assets in excess of £5bn. Peter began his career at Challenger Financial Services Group where he was a founding member of its infrastructure and real asset business.
